While Waiting

It took us a few weeks to get our furniture and our van from Nigeria.  During that time, the days were long.  I only brought part of the kids school work with us on the airplane.  We had almost no toys or books.  We knew almost no one here.  We only had taxis to explore the city in and it took two of those for our whole family to go anywhere, which was both cumbersome and expensive.  And let's be real here... those weeks won't go down as our sunniest spring ever, so we weren't all marching around with our happy hearts intact.  But we made it, and we have the pictures to prove it.

We tried some homemade "moon sand."

When that novelty ran out, we sent them outside and dared them to come in.  Which may have been a mistake...

Believe it or not, I recovered those clothes.  I tease Ryan all of the time that the detergent here probably contains substances known to cause cancer in the state of California.  That stuff is crazy good and dirt cheap.  Who needs Spray and Wash?
