Note to Self...

Next time you plan on taking one of your children to a developing nation, do NOT divulge information about the upcoming immunization appointment until your vehicle is parked just outside the doctor's office.  Lest you forget, the 24 hours before afore mentioned appointment WILL be painful with intermittent bouts of crying, anxiety, and change of heart concerning approaching travel.  However, after the 2 minutes of actual pain, you can expect 60 minutes of non-stop commentary on how it really wasn't so bad- to which you will have to routinely bite your tongue so as not to say, "I told you so!"

Which child(ren) get to go with you?

Only our oldest, Abby, is going. She's 10 and we decided we needed to take her because she has been very instrumental in our decision making process.

We went to Uganda a few years ago and took Bryan with us. When we went for our shots, he threw a fit... to the point of security coming to the office because he was screaming so loudly. We finally held him down under the chairs in the lobby where he was trying to hide. when the nurse gave the shot, he simply said, "Is that it?".
great memory....

I am so excited that your Abby will get to go with you. what a tremendous experience for her! We plan to take Bryan back with us when we go to Ethiopia.

I'm pray for ya'll.

The IMB is GREAT at giving shots. There were 3 days where we received multiple shots each day. There was a posted schedule, so the kids all knew they were coming. Even after the "it wasn't so bad" on days one and two, there was much trepidation on the later clinic days. The funniest part to me was that the nurses swore that the journeyman (recent college grads) were the worst ones!!!

Good job, Abby. Keep telling Mom & Dad all about it!! :-)

That is wonderful that Abby is going with you! We have 4 children ages 3,13,16 and 18 years and I wish we could take them all! Only our 18 year old daughter is going.
I totally understand about the shots. Don't talk about until the day of!! Even our 18 year old was nervous! (o:
