Layover mania!

So, what does one do when faced with a potential snowstorm before traveling?  Well, if you're the Campbells, you opt for an early flight and a 16 hour layover in NY.  What does one do when you have a 16 hour layover in NY?  Well, if you're the Campbells, you call your dear cousin Nadia, who lives in the Battery Park area of Manhattan.  Then, you ride the subway into the city, dump your luggage in her 9th floor apartment, borrow gloves, hats, and scarves and allow her to be your tour guide for the day.  Then you:
go see Lovely Lady Liberty.

Then, you take a walk through Times Square.
Take a ride on the Toys R' Us ferris wheel.
Have lunch at Ellen's Stardust Dinner.
P
Pick up a small souvenir at the American Girl Place.
Take a quick tour of St Patrick's Cathedral.
Play on the big piano at FAO Schwartz
Take a snowy walk in Central Park.
Then you return to the apartment for a mug of hot chocolate before heading back to JFK for your 11pm flight.  And to think, I had originally planned to spend the day grocery shopping, laundering sheets, and cleaning out the fridge.  What a fun day!

It was such a fun surprise getting to spend time with you guys in the City - so glad I could be a happy distraction amidst all the stress and excitement you are going through right now.

To all reading the blog, I've been tracking Christy & Ryan's flight on Emirates airlines' website, and they took off on time and have now landed in Dubai :) Seems to have gone well! You've got to love technology!

Hopefully everything is great in Dubai (definitely take a picture of the indoor ski resort if you have time to see it!) and the next flight goes smoothly. Safe travels!

Love,
Your favorite cousin (hehe)
